NEC serves students who should be juniors or seniors and need additional support to get back on track for graduation. We are committed to assisting all students in overcoming obstacles by providing strong core courses, including concurrent enrollment. NEC works in partnership with North High to allow students to continue with extracurriculars and social opportunities provided in a comprehensive high school setting while taking classes in a smaller setting. Students also have access to technical courses and enrichment courses at NEC and with other DPS schools such as CEC and EGC.Students who apply to NEC are behind in credits; therefore, we offer courses on a quarterly basis to accelerate learning and getting back on track to reach an ontime graduation. Attendance is a priority due to the pace of learning in our program. Finally, NEC does offer supported GED preparation for students who are at severe risk of dropping out. NEC meets the needs of the whole child by offering a differentiated learning environment, targeted interventions, reduced class size and individualized instruction. In addition, we also provide wrap-around supports to meet the social-emotional needs of the whole child such as counseling, college and career support, small groups, addiction counseling, and access to community resources. NEC primarily serves students from North High and other Northwest schools but also students from other DPS schools.View our enrollment interest form here.
